Food Review in Toulouse, France

Salad with Balsamic Vinegar and Foie Gras


This is my first time having the Foie Gras. First time always make peoples excited. But after that I had try the Foie Gras, I felt like I'm bitting the butter. Once you put into your mouth,it will melting into your mouth and you might felt oily and greasy. Honestly, I don't like these kind of feeling, it was because you might don't want to try other dishes already. About the salad, seriously for me is a bit too salty, but I can taste the balsamic vinegar and not too choking.

Hmmm~~~Yupe that right.. Fresh oysters and eat with raw. Before the Chef serving to us, he was cleaning and washing the oyster. Once he had done cleaning the oysters, he open the cover's oyster to  us.  I just straight away the whole oyster put into my mouth. The texture of oyster is quite soft and rubbery, and it's easy to swallow. By the way, the taste is fresh, and I can feel the salty taste and not from the salt, it's from the natural sea salt, I thought it will be fishy but it's not. Iif you want the oysters to be more flavor, my suggestion is squeeze some lemon juice, it will be more nicer.


Chicken Paella with Mussels and Prawns




I felt shocked, when I saw a big pan in front of the restaurant. Firstly, I thought it was a big curry pan, because the colors looks like the curry. But once I had smelled it, then just realized that it was a chicken paella.  Paella means all pan. Chicken Paella is a kind of spanish foods, especially for the Valencian peoples. The appearance of Chicken Paella, the rice looks quite moisture and sticky. I'm felt very satisfaction of this meal. The taste was average and didn't feel like salty and there are a strong capsicum and cumin taste. The chickens, prawns and mussels were juicy, it was because they were absorb a lot of the sauce, that why it very juicy.


Amorino Gelato AL Naturale






Amorino is a ice cream shop who using the traditional Italian ways for making gelato. There is a lot of flavor, such as raspberry, chocolate, hazelnut and more. You can have 3 flavor of gelato, in a cone. And they will help you to decoration with a rose shape. For my favorite flavors are Coffee, Amorino Chocolate and Pistacchio. I feel is quite match these 3 flavor. First, you try to taste the coffee flavor and then you can feel the aroma and the bitter taste of coffee, it make you refresh. And then try the chocolate , that is quite a strong chocolate flavor, creamy and rich. Pistacchio it can help you to reduce the sweet of the chocolate. Overall of this gelatos were not too sweet, the tastes were average. It was giving a surprise. First of all, my expectation those this gelato were too sweet, but in reality is no. If I return back to Toulouse,I would like to try it again.

Martin Yan Show



Martin Yan is a well known celebrity chef around the world, especially in Chinese Cuisine. He was introduced a Chinese Chef who name is Chef Xie in his show. Chef Xie had won the iron chef in the Japanese show. Chef Martin visited Chef Xie's restaurant, he shows it how the restaurant organisation in the kitchen. Chef Xie also emphasizes his presentation, his presentation also alike the western food presentation. While Chef Martin shows his way of cooking the fish. He has a nice cutting skills technique, and the way his cooking it looks simple,nice and fast way/ But for my opinion, when he was cooking the dishes, he didn't measure the sauce and the seasoning and seasoning always based his own feeling. SO the audiences might feel difficult to get know the actual taste . But I was agree that his way of cooking and cutting skill.

Restaurant Review: Restaurant L'ostal


  Restaurant L'ostal is located in Carcassonne, France. This restaurant if you didn't see probably, you might can't find it the entrance of this restaurant. The entrance of this restaurant you need to go into the alley around 10 step of your feet.

They have different types of menu, which is the cost are 19euro, 24euro, 35euro and more. The price is based on how many course.  The are 4 choices to choose the appetizer and dessert, 3 is for main course . For appetizer , you can choose Salmon salad, four season salad, ham plate and onion soup. Main course is Cassoulet traditional ( It'a bean with pork and sausage), Grilled preserved duck leg, Sirloin steak grilled on wood fire. For dessert , you can choose Cheese plate, pancake, ice-cream or Liege coffee.

The environment of Restaurant
The waitresses are very friendly and nice. They will explain with you and with their patience heart that how the food looks like.There has a person who playing the guitar and singing a song in the restaurant, especially Spanish song. This restaurant is really make you feel relax and enjoy the foods.

I'm really enjoy for the food in this restaurant, foods are delicious, and portion are quite big.I hope next time I can dine in this restaurant again.

Mostly Martha(2001)



Mostly Martha is a German romantic comedy movie. Martha Klein is a chef at Lido, a gourmet restaurant in Hamburg, Germany. She had difficulty relating to the world other than through food. Her single minded obsession with her culinary craft, It might bring to the customers feel unhappy and dissatisfaction of her service. The restaurant owner and Martha's friend had required her to see a therapist to work out her poor interpersonal skills. During therapy sessions, she can't taste any of food, and she felt stress and disappointed.

At the same time, Martha's sister was killed in an accident when she was on her way to visit Martha. Martha's sister was left an 8 years old daughter who called Lina to Martha. Martha's life soon completely changes and not only she must adjust herself to new parental role, but she must help Lina deal with her grief over the loss of her mother. Martha must now look after her niece, who is understandably depressed, withdrawn, and refuses to eat. The girl's father has been out of the picture for years living somewhere in Italy.


Martha gets unexpected help from Mario, Martha's new sous chef, who is not only a whiz on the chopping board but knows a lot of magic tricks and jokes to keep Lina's spirits afloat. Just as Martha starts to grow attached to the girl, however, the possibility of Lina returning to the custody of her father arises. The problem is that Mario is highly skilled and appears to Martha to be edging her out, setting up an opportunity for rivalry to erupt.



The film develops from this point, focusing on the attempts to locate Lina's father and the affect that Mario has on all around him. Food is a part of people's emotional.  When you feel happy , you might satisfied for your food. When you feel unhappy, you might don't have mood to enjoy the food. The food's taste and appearance are quite important to peoples and food also can be found your true love in your life.

Petai

Petai is well known as a bitter beans in South East Asia, especially in Malaysia. Petai is a name of food that the word from Malay, in English we called it 'Parkia Speciosa', hmmm..quite a nice name that it had. But in Chinese we called it ' Chou Dou', means that 'The Smelly Beans'.Well, the reason of peoples called the petai as bitter beans, it was because the taste of petai is bitter and with a strong stinky fruits smells like methane. Actually the petai's characteristic is just same as the durians, I feel quite pity of them. Some peoples are like the petai, they can be accept the aroma of petai and some peoples are can't accept it and dislike the petai, the reason is they feel that the aroma is too smelly for them, and they dislike the aroma of petai  keep staying in their mouth that after they had eaten the petai. But for me, petai is my favourite food, especially cook with red chili paste and prawns, actually this is my dearest mom's recipe. That why I love this food. 



Petai, Petai, Petai~~~

It has a lot of ways to cook the petai, but most of the peoples think that the petai is always cooked in spicy dishes. When you think petai, then it can bring you automatically imagine that it's a spicy dish. Petai also can be cooked with non-spicy dished. For example, petai can be cooked with minced meat, no matter is chicken, pork or beef meat. But the main important is minced meats. Slice the onions. Heat up the oil with the saute pan or wok, firstly put the onions saute it until the onion's flavour come out, and then put the mince meat and then saute it together. Well, how to see the meat was cooked? If chicken meat it will turn into white color,it was because chicken is a white meat and the beef and pork are red meat, so the beef will turn into dark brown color, and the pork is light brown color. Next, put the petai to saute it together,At last, add the soy sauce and seasoning with salt & peppers. For spicy flavour, I would like to say that petai can't live without the chili paste (Chili Boh) and the sambal balacan, spicy food can stimulate your taste buds, that why it can make you feel want to eat more and more and more.. Mostly the petai dish always match with the seafood, especially prawns and squids. It can cover the seafood's shifty taste.


Petai can help you to dissolving your constipation problem. It's had a high in fiber, petai in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives. For my experience, when I went to washroom for doing the 'business', once you finished, I can smell it a strong petai smell that from the toilet bowl. Sound feels scary, but it is helping you to dissolve your constipation problem. Petai can be lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. For example, pregnant women eat petai to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.Petai can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain,help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal. 


The petai has a lot of benifit to our body. It is a natural remedy for many ills. That the reason why I love to eat petai.
